An Epistemological Reflection on the Story of Mahan Kushyar in Nizami's Haft Peykar Yousef Aali Abbas Abad, Associate Professor at Payame Noor University.
com Abstract: The subject of this article is an epistemological reflection on the story of Mahan Kushyar in Nizami's Haft Peykar.
Humanism, the liberation of man from existing problems—within the structure and framework established by Nizami during the storytelling—and the solutions offered by mysticism and human cognition, are considered among the most important foundations for analyzing this story.
Professor Zarrinkoub believes regarding this: "The fact that each of them from this beautiful Haft Peykar only has the opportunity to narrate their own story for one night, symbolically shows that what draws Bahram to their speech is not love.
" (Todorov, 1379: 74) The Story of Mahan Kushyar The legend of Mahan is one of the most important parts of Haft Peykar; although its source and origin are of the type of legends of giants and wizards, it actually represents Nizami's view and belief regarding humans, their thoughts, ideas, and the position of "knowledge" in human behavior.
(See, Zarrinkoub, 1373: 158- 159) The story of Mahan, his captivity at the hands of demons, and his salvation by Khidr, is considered one of the examples of cognition, mysticism, and anthropocentrism in Nizami's poetry.
In this story, Nizami places the old gardener as a symbol of human conscience, awareness, and intellect, and advises Mahan that he must listen to him.
Mysticism and Humanism The legend of Mahan observes the deception of man and his misguidance at the hands of demons.
