According to a report on Monday by the cultural group reporter of IRNA from the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools, Ayatollah Taskhairi, in this letter, while inviting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar to travel to Iran, expressed his thanks and appreciation for his recent speech regarding the revival of the culture of proximity and the realization of continuous and deep communication between authentic civilizations and Islam, which aims to silence the seditions of global arrogance and their efforts against the Islamic Ummah, especially creating obstacles in the way of the cohesion and unity of the Islamic Ummah.
Ayatollah Taskhairi, while praising scholars such as the late Kashif al-Ghita, the late Sayyid Hibatuddin Shahristani, Imam Borujerdi, and Martyr Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, who played an important role in creating proximity between Shiites and Sunnis and were great proponents of proximity, added: The proximity movement faded after the 1970s, but after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran led by Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him), it resumed its activities, and after the end of the imposed Iran-Iraq war, Imam Khamenei continued this path.
According to "Islamic Awakening," Sheikh Afif Nabulsi, while paying tribute to the proximity-oriented positions of Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, emphasized: Unity-oriented thoughts lead to the growth, strength, and progress of the Islamic Ummah, and if the scholars of Islam invite all Muslims to unity, the social and political conditions of countries will move toward improvement.
