Nahj al-Balagha contains many tales, and these tales are mostly historical. It is certain that the goal of the Imam (as) in Nahj al-Balagha is not storytelling; rather, the tale is a tool for expressing issues such as religious, political, and military matters. Therefore, he does not prolong speech in narration and does not seek to describe and detail the events that occurred. Relying on the components of modern criticism in fictional literature, we find many similarities and analogies between the tales of Nahj al-Balagha and the modern literary genre known as the short-short story (flash fiction), which is referred to as minimalism. This essay, using a descriptive-analytical method and relying on the elements of the short-short story, examines the tale of Muawiyah's army attacking the city of Anbar, which is mentioned in the sermon of Jihad. The result of the research shows that this tale possesses most of the components of a short-short story and has many similarities with the characteristics of this new literary genre; it is excellent in terms of storytelling techniques and falls within the category of minimalist short-short stories.

This article also, by modeling the minimal characteristics, analyzes the tales of nor does he consider himself obliged to observe the framework of a tale, but the sublime eloquence of Imam (as) has caused him to create an artistic tale containing storytelling principles and techniques that falls within the literary genre of the sketch.
Imam (as) does not first lay out a story design like novelists to then arrange and apply storytelling elements and events accordingly, but rather, spontaneously, using his taste overflowing with eloquence, he narrates a tale that, despite its simple structure and plot, is exquisite and artistic.
