The Quran mentions 'those firmly grounded in knowledge' (Rasikhun fi al-Ilm) in verse 162 of An-Nisa and verse 7 of Al-Imran. The present article examines the issue of who these 'Rasikhun fi al-Ilm' are. In the first verse, the term refers to a group of scholars from the Children of Israel; however, in the second verse, there is disagreement among commentators. Some consider it exclusive to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), while others include individuals other than them within the instances of those firmly grounded in knowledge. 'Rasikhun fi al-Ilm' has two meanings: a general meaning that includes all individuals, and a specific meaning that is dedicated to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Nevertheless, if the meaning of the phrase )و الراسخون في العلم ( is that those firmly rooted in knowledge are knowledgeable about the ta'wil of the Quran, considering that the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family) is certainly one of them, it would have been appropriate to say: 'و ما يعلم تاويله الا الله و رسوله و الراسخون في العلم'.
Burayd urgently narrated from Imam Baqir or Sadiq (peace be upon them) that regarding the noble verse (و ما يعلم تأويله إلا الله و الراسخون في العلم), they said: The most noble Prophet is the best of those firmly rooted in knowledge.
