چکیده:
One of the general tendencies among the world's languages is the avoidance of vowel collisions at the phonological level after the construction of the word's underlying form in the morphological section. One of the solutions for resolving vowel hiatus is converting the second vowel into a glide. In this article, an attempt is made to examine a case in Kalhori Kurdish by providing an analysis within the framework of Harmonic Serialism (HS) in Optimality Theory, introducing key concepts in optimality such as dominance, conflict, redundancy, and the mechanism of constraint interaction. In Kalhori Kurdish, if one of the low vowels is placed before one of the high vowels, to avoid vowel hiatus, the high vowel is converted into a glide; additionally, if the first vowel is low, changes also occur in it. In this article, given the universal constraints and the necessity of their specific ordering in different languages, the goal is to discover the order of these constraints in Kalhori Kurdish, so that using the obtained order, the derivation of glided phonological forms from the underlying to the surface form can be achieved. After analyzing the data, it was determined that to describe gliding in Kalhori Kurdish, the constraints VV, MAXLEX*, and DEP dominate the constraint ([low+MAX)V], and this constraint itself dominates GLIDE (AGREE), and all these constraints dominate the IDENT constraint.

Vowel Glottalization as a Strategy for Resolving Vowel Hiatus A Case Study in Kalhori Kurdish Mehdi Fattahi 1 Abstract One of the common tendencies among the world's languages is the avoidance of vowel contact at the phonological level after the construction of the underlying word form in the morphological section.
In this article, an attempt is made to provide an analysis within the framework of the Harmonic Serialism (HS) 1 approach in Optimality Theory, examining a case in Kalhori Kurdish, and introducing core concepts in Optimality Theory such as dominance, conflict, precedence, and also the mechanism of constraint interaction.
Nevertheless, in Kalhori Kurdish, which is considered one of the main southern dialects of the Kurdish language (Kamandar Fattahi, 2000), the strategy of converting V2 into a glottal stop is adopted to resolve vowel hiatus.
Another one of the main goals of this article is to introduce the mechanism of constraint interaction and conflict in Optimality Theory and relations such as precedence, dominance, and correspondence within the context of a case study in Kalhori Kurdish.
from this day DEF from this day If we want to examine the above examples according to surface constraints, we see that in this language, the hiatus of two vowels is not permitted, and if it occurs, this situation is resolved by the glottalization of the second vowel.
Of course, in most works written within the framework of Optimality Theory, one of the important reasons for the lack of tendency of languages toward vowel hiatus is the presence of the ONSET constraint in high priority (Rosenthall, 1994; Casali, 1996; Ola Orie and Pulleyblank, 2000; McCarthy, 2008).
