In the explicit dreams of the Shahnameh, an extraterrestrial and spiritual being often plays the role of a heavenly messenger to deliver a divine message, such as the dreams of Kay Khosrow, Gudarz, Siavash, and Tus. Notes (1)-Sheikh Shihab al-Din Suhrawardi (587-545), the famous Iranian philosopher, titled the Sheikh of Illumination (Sheikh al-Ishraq) and the Martyred Sheikh.
Results that dreams leave on the behavior of characters include: Murder: Zahhak's dream - War: Bahram's dream - Seeking forgiveness: Sam's dream - Peace: Afrasiab's dream - Marriage: Ketayon's dream - Prevention of betrayal: Anushirvan's dream - Appearance of Kay Khosrow: Goudarz's dream - Ascension: Kay Khosrow's dream - Victory: Sam's Dream: Sam is a hero, open-hearted and God-worshipping, and the source of pride and glory for the Iranian kings.
