چکیده:
In the current research, the effects of internet use on internet users in internet cafes in Tehran have been investigated. Network theory has been selected as the theoretical basis of this research, and the research hypotheses have been designed on this basis. The research hypotheses included the impact of various dimensions of internet use, including the type of internet use (social - non-social), the amount of internet use during a 24-hour period, the intensity of the user's social communications in the real world, and the individual's level of experience and skill in using the internet on social isolation. 204 internet cafe users completed the research questionnaires through quota-accidental sampling. The hypotheses were tested based on multiple regression analysis. The results obtained show a significant and inverse relationship between the time spent using the internet during a 24-hour period and social isolation. Additionally, the social use of the internet leads to a reduction in social isolation.

Key Concepts: Social isolation, social network, internet, weak ties Introduction Sociology has since its inception devoted its efforts to studying the relationships and communications among humans in the modern era and to studying the role of new developments and the emergence of technologies, urbanization, and bureaucracy on social life.
It is appropriate that the effects of internet use be studied more thoroughly on a larger scale, taking into account all of an individual's social bonds, including friends, family, relatives, colleagues, and neighbors.
According to the results of this research, using the internet for two hours per week over a period of two years led to a decrease in the average size of the respondents' social network1 (Kraut, 1989).
Testing Hypotheses Using the Regression Method First Hypothesis The relationship between the time spent using the internet throughout the day and social isolation was the first hypothesis of this research.
The results of the study, as evident in the table, show that there is a significant relationship between the time spent using the internet throughout the day and the level of social isolation.
