The Minefield and the unwary translators مقاله

A translator may encounter problems while translating. Some problems are not so obvious unless the translator has the necessary precision. This article can lend a hand to that group of young translators who might be unaware of translation traps. In translation classes, we learned that language learners are unaware of translation traps and, as a result, easily fall into translation snares. 'False Cognates' is one of the traps that can ensnare language learners. 'Vocabulary Overlap' is another problematic factor in language learning. The third trap is unfamiliarity with two types of English (American English and British English) and failing to distinguish between them. The last trap that might catch language learners is deceptive words such as consistently and persistently. The author hopes that the present article can rescue young translators from potential translation traps.
