English language teaching has witnessed significant developments in recent years. Despite this, many of these developments are unknown to Iranian teachers and have not yet found a way into the country's practical or theoretical discussions. In this article, an attempt has been made to examine some of these changes. The topics raised include: form-focused instruction, post-method pedagogy, linguistic imperialism and critical pedagogy, reflective teaching, new perspectives in applied linguistics, and qualitative research.
