چکیده:
Purpose: The purpose of this study has been to design a comprehensive system dynamics model for analyzing and enhancing the performance of military universities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The model has been developed to encompass not only conventional dimensions of higher education but also the unique operational and training requirements of military institutions.Method: This research has adopted a mixed-method and applied-developmental approach. The statistical population included domestic studies from 2001 to 2024, with a purposive sample of 24 eligible studies. Data were collected using a structured checklist and analyzed with CMA and Vensim DSS software. Meta-analysis techniques (Cohen’s d and Z-tests) and causal loop modeling were employed to synthesize and interpret the findings.Findings: The results have shown that knowledge management, research, and financial management are the most influential components in improving the performance of military universities. A total of 29 causal loops (18 reinforcing and 11 balancing) have been identified, revealing complex interrelationships among performance variables. For the first time, the subsystems of "training" and "alumni"—distinctive features of military universities—have been modeled separately in a dynamic framework. Conclusion: The analysis has demonstrated that sustainable performance improvement in military universities requires the simultaneous development of knowledge, research, and financial capacities, alongside the effective management of systemic constraints such as workload, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and operational fatigue. The proposed dynamic model underscores the critical role of continuous value-based training, professional motivation among alumni, advanced knowledge management systems, and performance monitoring.

System Dynamics Model of Military University Performance Javad Moghaddasi 1, Mohammad Abbassian 2, Mehdi Esmaeili 3 Abstract Objective: The objective of this research was to design a comprehensive system dynamics model for analyzing and improving the performance of military universities in the Islamic Republic of Iran; a model that has been able to encompass specific mission and educational requirements of these universities in addition to the common dimensions of higher education.
Conclusion: Analysis of the results showed that improving the performance of military universities requires the simultaneous development of knowledge, research, and financial capacities, and effective control of systemic obstacles such as workload pressure, financial bureaucracy, and mission burnout.
