چکیده:
Conceptual analysis means the precise explanation of a word and its similar and opposite terms. Aspects of similarity and contrast clarify the semantic scope of a word. Numerous narrations have been issued from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) in which the term 'Khalifa' was used to introduce his successors. Extensive theological debates have taken place regarding the interpretation of these narrations, many of which stem from the lack of a precise explanation of this word; therefore, explaining the word 'Khalifa' is necessary for understanding the criteria of succession to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). Scholars have examined the word 'Khalifa'; however, it has not yet been presented as an independent mapping or undergone full conceptual analysis. This research has been written with the aim of reflecting the precise meaning of 'Khalifa' from authoritative lexical books, and its similar and opposite terms are drawn from prophetic narrations. The narrative comparison of 'Khalifa' and its similarities and contrasts is considered one of the benefits of this article. The conceptual analysis of the term 'Khalifa' is organized into three sections.

) From the absolute application of Khalifa to Amir al-Mu'minin , it becomes clear that he has performed all the duties of the Messenger of Allah and has occupied all of his positions; therefore, Amir al-Mu'minin is the first successor of the Prophet among the twelve caliphs within the Ummah.
) His successors, due to their succession from him, are also the authorities of the people, and the Messenger of Allah on the Day of Ghadir, after referring to the sixth verse of Surah Al-Ahzab, 8 said the sentence: See: Isma'il ibn Hammad al-Jawhari, al-Sihah, vol.
Considering the Vizierate of Imam Ali during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet, when they were the Amirs of the Ummah, they took upon themselves part of their responsibilities and duties; consequently, Amir al-Mu'minin is the most deserving person for the Caliphate after the Messenger of Allah.
) This narration refers to the twelve Caliphs in the "ithna 'ashar" hadith as the Caliphs and kings of the Ummah, meaning that the Prophet and his successors possess the authorities of rulers and the affairs of the Ummah are in their hands; therefore, no one has the right to oppose them.
