چکیده:
Identity is a set of qualities and characteristics that distinguish an individual or a group of people and societies from others. Meaning in place, in addition to visual features, is influenced by mutual human interactions, behaviors, and activities. Identity in places creates attachment in users through the creation and association of collective memories, which is the sense of place. To answer the question of whether the bazaar is an example of a space of national identity, this article, while briefly mentioning the factors creating meaning in place, presents concepts such as place, identity, national identity, and memory. What was obtained through questionnaires and eco-psychological methods has been applied to the Kermanshah Bazaar as one of the most important urban spaces possessing national and cultural identity as a research case. The research results show that place is a dynamic essence and a latent identity that, as a result of activities, behaviors, experiences, and memories, manifests a sense of place and ultimately identity within it. Furthermore, the bazaar, as a place possessing the components of meaning-making, is our Iranian identity, which takes shape in historical continuity and, despite its dynamism, manifests itself in the physical forms, art, and architecture of this land.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Also, the bazaar, as a place possessing the components of meaning construction, is our Iranian identity, which takes shape in a historical continuity and, despite its dynamism, manifests itself in the physical forms, art, and architecture of this land.
Collective memory makes an urban space possess identity and value and, while strengthening the sense of belonging to a place in the minds of citizens, attracts them and becomes a factor in strengthening social interactions and, in other words, a facilitator for stabilizing and strengthening the role of urban space in social interactions and national identity resulting from history and Iranianness.
The argument of this article, based on the aforementioned theoretical scheme, is that the bazaar, as a meaningful place that takes shape in historical continuity and, despite its dynamism, manifests itself in the physical forms of the art and architecture of this land, has a deep connection with our Iranian and cultural identity.
The bazaar is one of the places that is effective in shaping collective memory and cultural value, and consequently, collective identity, because it is in this place that an individual can establish social interactions and spend time pleasantly, feel the space, and achieve perception of the environment; it is as a result of these activities and behaviors that experiences and memories are formed, and the sense of place and place attachment are achieved (Habibi, 2008:42).
