چکیده:
The dominance of any country or government over another territory has consequences for the occupied country in various dimensions. Political, economic, social, religious, and sectarian consequences, as well as cultural consequences, are among the most important types of impact in this regard. Russian dominance over independent countries throughout the years has had its specific effects. This is because the Russian government, with a mindset that was opposed to attention to religious issues, imposed many restrictions on these countries and their peoples. Therefore, the present writing, after examining the cultural background of the people of Azerbaijan, has proceeded to describe how the Soviet political dominance over this country occurred. It then evaluated the cultural consequences of this dominance and presented them in two parts: negative and positive. Its negative consequences mainly manifested in the realm of religious culture and led to the physical elimination of scholars and religious elites, the erasure or transformation of the function of religious centers, severe religious oppression and struggle against religious doctrines, and the change and transformation of script and language and the promotion of Marxist thought. However, its positive consequences materialized in the fields of education, research, the development of educational and research institutions, and the establishment of audio and visual media.
