06) Indonesia Issues Visa-on-Arrival for Iranians Iran and Indonesia are determinedto promote their tourism relations by providing visa facilities for the tourists of both countries.
"It is expected that the regulation can shift the so• called conventional bilateral relations between Indonesia and Iran into a new phase of unlimited ties, and particularly to boost the flux of tourists and businessmen of both countries," says the Embassy of the Indonesia in Tehran in its announcement.
The agreement was signed during the visit of Iranian foreign minister and director general of Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization to Jakarta on 27 February 2006 to pursue the case of tourism· cooperation between Iran and Indonesia according to the memorandum of understanding signed previously between the two countries and it has come into force since April 2006.
An Iranian poet, writer and filmmaker says that while researching his book, In Search of Heaven, about an American missionary, Howard Conklin Baskerville, the latter made a startling discovery when in 1907 he went to the city of Tabriz in Iran.
"Based on to the recent approval of the cabinet ministers, foreign tourists who come to Iran will have the chance to receive a 15-day visa at 10 international airports.
If for some reason, the visa could not be issued for some tourists, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization oflran is obliged by law to pay for their return to their countries'.
