THE BOO!{ OF STRIFE* The great canonical books on Tradition, like that of Al-Bukhari and his successors, have been the chief cause for the disappearance of almost all earlier works which dealt with the same subjects ; and manuscripts of the latter have become extremely scarce and, when discovered, are as a rule of great age.
Such a book is the " Book of Strife " of Nu'aim ibn Hammad, of which an excellent manuscript has been preserved.
