INTRODUCTION

Warm-up prior to physical activity is a well-accepted practice believed to reduce‌ the‌ risk of injury and enhance performance (1). There were various types of pre‌-event‌ warm-up programs for enhancing performance, such‌ as‌; static‌-stretching, massage, dynamic stretching, PNF stretching and‌/or‌ jogging. Static-stretching has been shown to significantly reduce leg strength, and high‌ speed‌ motor capacities such as power‌ and‌ vertical jump‌ (2). Therefore‌, the‌ purpose of the present study was‌ to‌ compare the effects of two different warm-up programs consist of Swiss‌ massage‌ and static-stretching on jumping and‌ sprinting ability of male‌ college‌ athletes.

METHOD

Twenty male college‌ athletes‌ volunteered to participate in this study and were randomly divided into three groups‌; massage‌ group, static-stretching group, and‌ rest‌ group‌. Vertical jump (VJ‌), 10‌,

20 and 30-m sprint‌ tests‌ were assessed before (pre) and after (post) each of the interventions.
