CONCLUSIONS

The results of research illustrated that there is‌ positive‌ and significant relationship between body image and‌ self‌-esteem‌ that this result is consistent with results‌ of‌ Asgary and Shebaky (1389) and Tabnak et al. (2007). Other results showed that‌ there‌ is no significant difference between‌ self‌- esteem of‌ male‌ and‌ female students. This result is consistent‌ with‌ results of Roos et al. (2000) and Kamaly and Ghafary (2009). These‌ results‌ indicate the positive effect of exercise‌ on body image. Explanations‌ for‌ this finding can be presented‌: exercise‌ and physical activities by creating better muscular balance and increase physical performance in‌ athletes‌ can improve their body image‌ and‌ by‌ preventing lack of‌ confidence‌ and feelings of inadequacy‌ which‌ are due to little work and immobilization of muscle cause increased fat and imbalance‌ and‌ inappropriate body composition, and improve their‌ body‌ image and‌ self‌-concept‌. All of the items‌ mentioned above show the extraordinary importance of physical activity on body image. It seems that‌ participation‌ in physical activity have a mediated role‌ in‌ increasing‌ self‌-esteem‌ and attitudes to‌ self‌. In fact, participation in physical activity increases the ability and physical fitness of the individual so‌ this‌ in‌ turn will change the type of evaluation‌ and‌ estimation‌ of‌ individuals‌ from‌ their capabilities. This relationship has a positive cycle that leads to increased self-esteem and a more positive attitude of the body.
