خلاصة:
Nahj al-Balagha, the precious words and sayings of Imam Ali (AS), is overflowing with eloquence and fluency. This valuable book has been translated into Persian by capable and literary translators; one of these translators is Dr. Seyyed Jafar Shahidi, a proficient professor of Persian literature, who in his translation has translated the Arabic text with special care and art, attempting to assist the reader in correct understanding by providing Persian terms and equivalents while adhering to the original text. The authors of this research, using a descriptive-documentary method and examining the first 114 sermons of this translation—in honor of the number of Surahs in the Holy Quran—have described examples of verbal and semantic devices as well as imagery used in the translation, portraying the capability of this great professor for readers. Allameh Shahidi has translated the existing imagery in Nahj al-Balagha with special precision and meticulousness, showcasing his art in this field. Dr. Shahidi made the most use of eloquent simile (Tashbih Baligh) and implicit metaphor (Isti'ara Makniya). With special artistry and delicacy, and by utilizing acceptable similes, metaphors, and metonymies with general meanings, Professor Shahidi has demonstrated his high ability in translating this magnificent book. He has utilized many literary devices such as: Saj' (rhymed prose), Mora'at-e Nazir (congruity), Paradox (Tazad), etc. It might be said that perhaps the only verbal device he has focused on is Saj', which is the most prominent feature of this translation.
