Abstract:
«The Analysis of Three Approaches of Interpreting Verses 16-19 in the Resurrection Surah: A Perspective on the Parenthetical ClauseAli Hasan-BagiAbstractParenthetical clause, in Arabic, is not distinguished from other clauses. This clause has been focused in the interpretations of the verses in Quran due to its prominence in the informal interactions, in that, some of the verses have been taken as parenthetical clauses. This has affected the Quranic interpretations too. One of the dominant approaches in the interpretation of verses 16-19 of the Resurrection Surah is to take them as parenthetical clauses. On the other hand, misinterpreting such clauses may have a huge impact on the understanding and interpretation of the verses in Quran. This study attempts to investigate the parenthetical clauses and provide a comparative analysis of three approaches on the quadric verses in the Resurrection Surah, with a focus on the parenthetical clauses. The findings suggest that the quadric verses are not in fact parenthetical clauses. Moreover, these clauses do not have conceptual relationship with the previous verses, but that extra-linguistic features have caused their descent. Keywords: Parenthetical clauses; interpretation; verses 16-19; Resurrection Surah; popular approach; unpopular approach..
