Abstract:
Home-based business is one of the important business sectors that have been supported by policy makers in different countries in recent years. The microbusiness privileges (such as agility and flexibility)، alongside the advantages of using a home as a business location (including elimination of business location costs) have triggered multiple motivations in the tendency toward such businesses. This research is designed to identify the factors affecting home-based entrepreneurship decisions. The statistical population of this research covers all of the trainees of the Yazd Technical and Vocational Training Center (N=254). The exploratory factor analysis demonstrates that five factors (started in the order of importance: entrepreneurial، domestic، job seeking and creedal motivations) explain more than sixty (60%) percent of such motivations. From among such motivations، there is no significant difference between men and women in respect of entrepreneurship، job seeking and creedal factor، but domestic and family motivations are found to be stronger among women and married couples compared to men and singles. Also men’s financial motivations are stronger than those of women.
