Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the effect of one-session and two-session weekly training on the general fitness of non-athlete girls. In this study, 38 non-athlete girls participated in the one-session training group and 38 non-athlete girls participated in the two-session group. The one-session group trained for four months and the two-session group trained for two months. The subjects participated in a pre-test that included measuring the muscular endurance of the shoulder girdle muscles, abdominal muscular endurance, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance, and after the end of the training period, the final test, which measured the same factors, was repeated. The results of the pre-test and final test were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests, as well as the Wilcoxon rank-sum test. Statistical calculations showed that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and final test of the one-session and two-session groups, and training has led to improvement in all physical fitness factors. Statistical analysis to compare the significance of the difference between the final test of the one-session and two-session groups shows that non-athlete girls who trained twice a week had more progress in terms of cardiovascular endurance, agility, and muscular strength, but muscular endurance developed more in the group that only trained one session per week. Based on the results, it is recommended that the number of training sessions be increased to two sessions per week to develop physical fitness.
