Abstract:
The most important goal of the historiography of Ashura throughout many centuries has been the expansion of the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom. In other words, the historiography of Ashura carries the current of sacrifice and martyrdom. This style of historiography, by referring to the manner of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and the children and companions of the Imam, has played the greatest role in raising awareness of this event. One of the important reports in the historiography of Ashura is how Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him) was martyred. The tragic martyrdom of an infant child at the hands of the enemy in the historiography of Ashura is considered one of the most sorrowful events of the Ashura incident. The reflection of the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him) in the historiography of Ashura has long shown the depth of the tragedy of Ashura among Muslims and non-Muslims. Research findings indicate that Shia historians and even Sunnis have depicted the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him) as one of the most shocking actions to suppress the Ashura event, and even in the present era, this event has had extensive reflection in the new historiography of Ashura. These works have dealt with a scientific, documented, and reasoned reading of the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him), one of the results of which in the present era has been the holding of ceremonies to commemorate the children present in the Karbala event, including Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him). Given the above, this research, with a descriptive and analytical view, addresses the reflection of the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him) in the historiography of Ashura in the present era. Therefore, the present research answers the question of why the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Asghar (peace be upon him) has been the focus of a wide spectrum of writers and poets for centuries?
