Abstract:
This article focuses on a saying by Imam Sadiq (AS) to one of his companions who considered Faraj (relief/opening) to be in the easing of worldly affairs, and the Imam corrected his view: 'Whoever recognizes this matter of Imamate has been granted relief because of his expectation.' He had a minimal and superficial view of the matter of Faraj; whereas with a maximalist and solution-oriented view of Faraj, its high status becomes clear from the perspective of the Imam. Naturally, the meaning of Faraj in its comprehensive form, which is the foundation of all Mahdavi thoughts, will be explained, and its relationship with expectation will become clear. This writing is organized using descriptive and analytical methods and by utilizing library resources. The research findings show that there are conceivable stages and levels for Faraj; based on the aforementioned narration, two levels of Faraj are mentioned within two stages: the first level, which has a 'minimalist view' and the lowest rank, consists of relief in worldly affairs, and the second stage, which is the 'maximalist view' of Faraj, is indeed the eschatological Faraj, which is considered praiseworthy by the Infallible Imam and will have an educational effect on those in expectation; by explaining this stage, the meaning of the matter of Faraj becomes clear.
Machine summary:
A Documentary Study and Semantic Analysis of the Hadith "مَنْ عَرَفَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ فَقَدْ فُرِّجَ عَنْهُ لِانْتِظَارِه", regarding the levels of Faraj Mohammad Javad Yaghoobian 1 Abstract This article focuses on a statement by Imam Sadiq (AS) to one of his companions, who perceived Faraj (relief/opening) as the easing of worldly affairs, while the Imam corrected his perspective: "Whoever recognizes this matter of Imamate has attained relief because of his expectation (Intizar).
Therefore, the main issue is expressing the "levels and reality" of Faraj from the perspective of narrations, taking into account the hadith of Abu Basir from Imam Sadiq (AS): «عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ رَفَعَهُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ( جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ مَتَى الْفَرَجُ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا بَصِيرٍ وَ أَنْتَ مِمَّنْ يُرِيدُ الدُّنْيَا مَنْ عَرَفَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ فَقَدْ فُرِّجَ عَنْهُ لِانْتِظَارِه 2 ».
This research, while examining the narration of Abu Basir from Imam Sadiq (as) from the perspective of mentioning primary sources, differences in versions, and their authenticity, clarifies its apparent meaning with the help of lexical books, and by using the views of hadith commentators and presenting its content against the axioms of the Quran and Sunnah, clarifies the true meaning of Faraj and explains the maximalist view of the meaning of Faraj that is expected by the Imams.
