Abstract:
In analyzing why the results of the eleventh presidential election took shape, various roots and reasons have been mentioned, emphasizing the quality of the political maneuvering of Hojjat al-Islam Hassan Rouhani and his supporting team during the electoral competitions, as well as the electoral wave created by political groups in support of him. In this article, however, an attempt has been made to study the psychological roots and the sense of relative deprivation formed in Iranian society in the shaping of the supportive wave for Dr. Rouhani. Generally, in an individualistic and psychological perspective, the conditions for changing the status quo must be sought in individual perceptions and feelings, which are themselves influenced by social transformations. In this article, based on Ted Robert Gurr's theoretical model and considering the assumption that social dissatisfaction and the effort to change the status quo stem from the amount and intensity of the sense of relative deprivation among various groups in each society, the grounds for creating relative deprivation in society, including the perception and understanding of inequality during the eight-year period of the ninth and tenth governments, have been studied. Ultimately, it was concluded that various factors such as the expansion of the academic community and their dissatisfaction with the government's performance, the formation of a class gap resulting from the gross difference in per capita income among various social classes, increased inflation, the gap between income and expenses, and unemployment, have reflected themselves in the relative deprivation of society, creating frustration and ultimately a general effort to change the status quo and voting for the most prominent electoral candidate advocating for a change in the status quo.
