Abstract:
Ta'wil is one of the problematic terms about which commentators disagree in semantics. The root of their disagreements primarily traces back to the use of this word in verse 7 of Surah Al-Imran. The reason for this is that in this verse, the word 'Ta'wil' appears alongside terms such as 'Muhkam' (decisive) and 'Mutashabih' (ambiguous), and many commentators have addressed its definition in close connection with the definitions they provided for Muhkam and Mutashabih. Among the new perspectives in this regard is the view of the great contemporary commentator, Allameh Tabataba'i, which differs from other views. In this research, we aim to express the perspective of Allameh Tabataba'i and, in the end, present our own view by proposing a model regarding the subject of the domain of Ta'wil and Tafsir.
Machine summary:
{P1P}He considers the main reason that caused disagreement among commentators in expressing the meaning of these three words to be a confusion of topics and an error that occurred on their part between the discussion of Muhkam and Mutashabih and Ta'wil.
Allameh believes that Muhkam verses are verses that have no deficiency in indicating their own signified meaning; whereas deviant individuals, for the purpose of misleading people and attaining the Ta'wil of the Quran, take and pursue the Mutashabih verses.
6. Allameh refers to the story of Moses and Khidr, peace be upon them, in arguing this point{P2P} and by referring to the verses that refer to the story of Moses and Khidr, peace be upon them{P3P}; he writes: Just as these verses are used, the meaning of Ta'wil is the return of every action to its real form and title; just as hitting a child returns to the purpose of discipline, and cutting a vein or bloodletting returns to the purpose of medical treatment; but in the sentence "Zaid came," one cannot say that its Ta'wil is the coming of Zaid in the external world.
Allameh's method of reasoning, in which he relies on the verses related to the story of Moses and Khidr, peace be upon them, and the story of Joseph, peace be upon him, to explain the meaning of Ta'wil in verse 7 of Surah Al-Imran, supports this point.
P} a reality that is beyond the reach of ordinary humans and is not of the genus of meanings or the denotation of words, nor does it include the justification of ambiguous verses; how do followers of deviation approach the ambiguous verses with the motive of Ta'wil of the Quran?
