Abstract:
The mission of prophets and their successors has occurred in various temporal and spatial conditions, and among the reasons for this is teaching various life conditions to the followers of the prophets' call. The call and struggle of one prophet may be linked to the issue of political rebellion, while the call of another may be linked to economic corruption and another to moral decay. Among the prophets and divine successors, the names of two Imams can be associated with the subject of civilization, politics, and the culture of the Islamic and human Ummah: Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Reza (AS). Between these two divine personalities, who also stand at two different temporal and spatial endpoints, apart from their genealogical connection, noteworthy similarities can be found; among them are presence in two important civilizational spheres, dealing with two clever and rebellious political apparatuses, extensive geographical and international journeys, the involvement of various religions and sects with them, and the subject of debates and arguments. The present article is a comparative study between the biography of these two Imams from a cultural and civilizational perspective. In this article, we find Imam Reza (AS) to be an Imam who, considering the requirements of the time, is the superior heir to the biography and tradition of his father and the leader of nations, namely Ibrahim Hanif. It is clear that the cultural and civilizational re-reading of the biography of leaders is one of the basic needs of the Islamic Ummah at the current sensitive and decisive stage.
