Abstract:
There is a lot of talk today about Iranian Islamic culture and civilization. This culture and civilization has characteristics and components that people in society should be familiar with from childhood and their identity should be formed in order to achieve Iranian-Islamic culture. One of the formalities of familiarity with these features and components is the elementary social studies textbooks. The purpose of this study is to assess the degree of attention to these characteristics and components in the two dimensions of Iranian and Islamic cultural identity in the words and images of the books. For the study, the characteristics of time, place and culture were considered.Documentary research method and qualitative content analysis technique have been used. The statistical population is the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade social studies textbook of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Data were collected through phishing.The findings showed that both dimensions of Iranian and Islamic cultural identity were considered in the books, but they were not equal; In the components of time and place, he has dealt more with the characteristics of Iranian cultural identity and in the components of culture, he has dealt more with the characteristics of Islamic cultural identity. There is no mention of national or religious myths in words and pictures, while it strengthens the spirit of epic and patriotism in them.
