'Abdullah ibn Saba' is a mysterious and ambiguous figure in historical texts about whom much has been said. Sunni historical writings, especially in the recent period, have introduced him as a Jewish-born founder of the rebellion against Uthman and the founder of Shiite thought. In contrast, Shiite researchers, by examining the provided historical documents and texts, consider his character to be a fabrication of Shiite opponents and some have even denied his existence. An examination of historical and Hadith sources proves the inaccuracy of both views and reveals that Abdullah ibn Saba was an extremist and exaggerator during the era of the Commander of the Faithful (AS) who had few supporters, but had no involvement in the political and social events of his time and was not worthy of attention.
