Abstract:
This review article was conducted with the aim of identifying and analyzing the factors effective in the academic decline of secondary school students and providing practical solutions to improve their academic status. Academic decline, as one of the fundamental challenges of educational systems, carries undesirable consequences at both individual and social levels. In this research, using the systematic review method, studies published in reputable scientific databases between the years 1390 to 1402 (Solar Hijri) were examined. The findings show that factors affecting academic decline can be classified into four categories: individual factors (academic motivation, academic self-concept, study skills), family factors (parenting styles, parents' literacy level, socio-economic status), school factors (teaching quality, school climate, educational facilities), and socio-cultural factors (prevailing societal values, cyberspace). The most effective proposed solutions include improving teaching methods, strengthening the academic counseling system, increasing parental involvement, enriching educational programs, and enhancing students' academic skills. The results of this study can assist educational policymakers, school administrators, teachers, and parents in designing and implementing effective intervention programs to reduce academic decline and promote academic progress.
