Abstract:
One of Sa'di's fundamental structural characteristics is that he has created masterpieces in all realms and forms of Persian speech; he is one of the greatest lyric poets in the world. His odes are both long and pleasing; they are continuous lyrics that could be sung with voice and in harmony with instruments. Sa'di has created a unique masterpiece in didactic poetry: Bustan. He has created another masterpiece in rhythmic, ornate prose: Gulistan. What Sa'di has not addressed are heroic epics (razm-nameh) , convivial literature (bazm-nameh) , and mystical treatises (raz-nameh). These are three forms within the realm of literary creation that is storytelling.
Machine summary:
Saadi and the Epic of Battle Dr. Mirjalaluddin Kazazi Abstract One of Saadi's fundamental structural characteristics is that he has created masterpieces in all realms and forms of Persian speech; he is one of the greatest epic poets in the world.
If we read it like this: به نام خداوند جان آفرین, حکیم سخن در زبان آفرین The meaning of the verse is that Saadi has begun his continuous poem with the name "God, the Creator of Souls," who is a wise one and a sage who created speech within language; in other words, "Hakim" (the Wise) refers back to "God, the Creator of Souls," which is another report of Him. But if we read the verse like this: به نام خداوند جان آفرین, حکیم سخن در زبان آفرین (Saadi, 1389: 201) The verse will find another report and meaning; a wondrous meaning.
It is not in vain that Saadi, in that other form of the verse, points to this attribute of the Creator; but the number of orators who are the sages of language is not large.
I have said many times that one of Saadi's fundamental structural characteristics is that he has created masterpieces in all realms and forms of Persian speech; he is one of the greatest epic poets in the world.
Saadi creates masterpieces in the language that we use for conversation.
