Abstract:
Lyric literature is a manifestation of the delicate emotions and pristine thoughts of Persian-speaking poets and storytellers, who have found no souvenir more pleasant under this rotating dome than the sound of the voice of love; they have composed their romantic stories into verse and, seasoned with taste, thought, and experience, brought their skill in the art of storytelling to light. The story of Yusuf and Zulaikha is a beautiful narrative that has also been referred to in the Holy Quran and is noteworthy in this regard; the story begins with a balanced situation and then its attractiveness increases with the occurrence of events, which is a type of structuralism in this literary genre worthy of consideration. The subject and goal of the present article is to investigate the role of story in lyric literature with an emphasis on the story of 'Yusuf and Zulaikha', and the findings show that although the design of this story is simple, it possesses specific complexities, and the results indicate that the existence of a coherent structure, a happy ending, and contrasts has doubled the attractiveness of this story.
