Abstract:
The event of Saqifah, following the passing of the Messenger of God (PBUH), was the first practical step toward creating a difference among Muslims. At Saqifah Bani Sa'idah, a number of Sahaba, contrary to the will of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) regarding the Caliphate of the Commander of the Faithful (AS), elected Abu Bakr as his successor. Therefore, what occurred at Saqifah is considered an important turning point in history that must be analyzed and investigated from various angles. One way to become familiar with the depth of this incident is to identify those present at Saqifah. In this article, efforts have been made to introduce the individuals present at that location and, as history shows, to point out the role of each one. Undoubtedly, the names of well-known individuals or those who played a role in Saqifah are recorded in history. One of the conditions that Sunnis have proposed for the legitimacy of electing a Caliph is the allegiance (Bay'ah) of the Ahl al-Hall wal-Aqd to him. The present writing proves that many of the great companions and members of the Ahl al-Hall wal-Aqd were not present at Saqifah, and only a small number of them were there. This article is structured into twenty-one sections.
