Abstract:
Since the beginning of its creation, man has constantly strived for teaching and learning. In Islam, special emphasis has also been placed on education and training. Lasting and efficient education requires adherence to specific principles and etiquettes that must be taken into account. Scientific debate and dialogue is one of the established and influential principles in learning and the permanence of scientific content, which has been carried out in religious scientific centers and seminaries since the past. With the expansion of information and communication technology and the provision of the possibility of using modern technologies in different stages of education, new platforms for teaching and scientific exchanges have been provided. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, virtual education and online debates have become more prevalent. In this writing, after referring to the importance, principles, and necessities of debate, some of the virtual platforms for conducting non-attendance debates and dialogues are also introduced.
Machine summary:
In this method, after learners have learned the lesson from their teacher and after studying and reflecting upon it, they present their own reading of the given lesson text to their debate partner, engage in criticizing and reviewing that educational content, and as a result, a better and deeper understanding of the class material is achieved for both of them.
Remote debate can be conducted under special circumstances, such as the following: ـ In situations where learners, such as students and scholars, are on missionary assignments and participate in lessons online; ـ During holidays, especially longer vacations such as summer; ـ In cases where group members live in cities or locations far from each other for various reasons; ـ Due to work commitments that prevent individuals from being present alongside one another; ـ In special cases, such as the outbreak of a disease or natural disasters, etc.
This system also provides facilities that can create the conditions for holding a virtual debate; such as: simultaneous dialogue between participants, file sharing, access control settings, public and private dialogue, viewing video, and the possibility of recording sessions on the server side.
Since Skype provides the possibility of holding multi-person video conferences (up to 25 people) and also has the capability of written dialogue with more than a hundred people in a group, it can be considered a suitable tool for virtual and non-face-to-face discussions.
