Abstract:
The imposed war of the Ba'athist regime of Iraq against Iran (1980-1988) posed great influence in various fields of Iranian culture and art. The event of the imposed war, like the processes of the Islamic Revolution itself, draw the attention of a number of artists who were able to create new principles and criteria for conveying the content, and influence the process by presenting their perceptions of the event of the war in their works. Works of visual artists in Khuzestan province, as one of the most affected regions of the country having experienced the misery of war and many misfortunes, are more significant; However, lack of sufficient information about visual artists in Khuzestan province in the era of the imposed war deprives us from a full study; Therefore, this study is intended to identify such artists and evaluate their works. The question of this research concentrates on the visual artists of Khuzestan province during the imposed war and the way that this event has posed on their works. Moreover, in addition to the identification of the visual artists of Khuzestan province who tried to record national culture and art during the imposed war, this study will try to investigate the effect of the imposed war on their works from 1980 to 1988. This descriptive-analytical research follows developmental purpose and is based on library resources as well as a great deal of field researches. Having introduced the unknown artists of Khuzestan province in various visual fields, the research proposes that the effects of the imposed war on these artists’ works, method of representation, types of themes, use of visual elements and symbolism are quite significant.
