Abstract:
The present research was conducted with the aim of a comparative study of the competency level of teaching skills of professors at Payame Noor University, Isfahan province, for the purpose of planning educational quality improvement using a descriptive-survey method. The statistical population of the research consisted of professors and students of Payame Noor University, Isfahan province, in the academic year 95-96, where 175 professors and 500 students were selected using the convenience random sampling method. The data collection tool is a researcher-made questionnaire with 22 items. In the present study, the face validity of the questionnaire was confirmed using members of the statistical population, and the content validity of the questionnaire was also confirmed by some professors of Payame Noor University. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was obtained using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.82). To analyze the data, SPSS statistical software (one-sample T-test, independent two-group t-test, and analysis of variance) was used. The findings of the research indicated that academic rank, attending training courses, and service experience are influential on teaching skills (before teaching, during teaching, after teaching), but field of study and gender are not influential on teaching skills (before teaching, during teaching, after teaching).
Machine summary:
Introduction UNESCO (2008) considers education to be the key to the development of societies and a path that empowers individuals to realize their abilities and increase control over the decisions that affect them (Shahmohammadi, 1393) and the higher education system is the most valuable resource that any society has at its disposal for progress and development, and universities and research institutions have gained significant knowledge and prestige and are considered followers of the path of science and progress (Mohammadi, 1394).
Since the primary responsibility for achieving this growth lies with the professors; therefore, the evaluation of the quality of professors' education is carried out for the purpose of review and improvement; in this regard, students, experts, all teaching and training methods and processes, and learning approaches are taken into consideration (Javadi and Arab Bafrani, 1393).
Asgari and Mahjoub Modab (1389), in their research, stated that from the students' perspective, the most important characteristics of effective teaching are, respectively, communication ability, teaching method, individual personality, and research skills; and there is no significant relationship between the individual characteristics of students (gender, age, field of study, and educational level) and their views regarding the components of effective teaching.
This research also aims to conduct a comparative study of the level of suitability of teaching skills of professors at Payame Noor Universities in Isfahan province for the purpose of planning the improvement of educational quality.
