Investigating the barriers and problems of rural industry development with a meta-analysis approach 1 1 Narjes Momen 2 Majid Yasouri (Date received 2019/09/07 - Date approved 2019/10/24) Article Type: Scientific-Research Abstract Industrialization of villages and the expansion of non-agricultural activities are important factors in diversifying the rural economy.
Among the major challenges facing the development of rural industries, one can mention the high dispersion of villages across the country, unsuitable climatic conditions, weakness of human resources, inadequacy of economic systems, and the lack of counseling facilities (Nosrati and Imani, 2009: 94).
The theory of industrializing rural areas is an influential factor in the process of economic and social development, which at the same time is considered the last resort for solving the problem of poverty in rural areas; based on this perspective, through industrialization and the expansion of non-agricultural activities in villages, it is possible to achieve increased welfare and the provision of necessary goods and services for rural households (Nasiri, 2008: 37).
According to the following tables, lack of capital, sales market limitations, absence and weakness of information bases and coherent consulting companies, weakness of regional studies for identifying potential areas, lack of infrastructure, low level of general literacy and technical skills, weakness of training programs, weakness of cooperation among villagers, high cost of production inputs, increased presence of brokers and intermediaries, weakness of technology units, number of involved organizations, weakness of the existence of a participatory management perspective among officials, and the imposition of cumbersome laws are among the barriers and problems of industrial development in Iranian villages.
