Abstract:
Population growth and urban development increased consumption of undegradable waste, and many other relations of life and improved mechanical approach and attention management is to optimize the location of landfill. In Boukan produce 179 tons of waste daily, which is the main method of disposal, it is a pile of Anbar. This is inevitable, the need to locate the landfill. In this research locate urban landfills was performed using EPA standards, including faults, geological, away from the river, groundwater depth, from shallow wells and aqueducts and fountains the distance from the facility, away from urban centers and rural, agricultural lands. For this purpose, the layers of each criterion, was prepared in (GIS) and the weighting method (AHP) criteria weighting, was carried out in a pair comparison of completing by specialists and experts. After a score for each layer overlap model was used to locate landfill site. The results showed that the designated areas, is selected the three priority areas as suitable for landfill, considering the economic, social and cultural area, with an area of 149 hectares in10 km north of the town of Boukan was selected for the 25-year period.

1 Hassan Houshyar Optimal Site Selection for Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (Case Study; Bukan City) Received Date: 2014/07/13 Accepted Date: 2015/11/12 Abstract Population growth and urban development, increased consumption of non-biodegradable waste materials, and many other aspects of modern and mechanized lifestyles have led managers to take a serious approach and attention to the optimal site selection for waste landfilling.
In this research, the site selection for municipal waste landfill in Bukan was carried out using the criteria of the Environmental Protection Organization, including faults, geology, distance from rivers, groundwater depth, surface distance from wells, qanats, and springs, distance from urban and rural centers, and agricultural lands.
In this research, the objective is the optimal site selection for the landfill and waste management of Bukan city, based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process method, and to achieve this important task, the following objectives are proposed: 1) Improving the public health status of the people 2) Reducing the damages resulting from unprincipled landfilling to water and soil resources, and 3) Determining a suitable location for waste landfilling.
