Abstract:
The revival of moral values and the return to forgotten religious and human principles is endorsed by all heavenly religions. Achieving true happiness is impossible without benefiting from authentic human ethics. In this regard, despite the differences that exist between the belief system of Islam and the belief system of Christianity, there are very subtle points in the field of ethics in the Gospel of John for which a similar position is observed in the Holy Quran. For instance, regarding issues such as: worship, prayer, self-purification, avoiding Satan, betrayal, hypocrisy, following whims and desires, and falling into sin, etc., there is much similarity between the Quran and the Gospel of John. This article, using a descriptive-analytical and comparative method, will answer these questions: 'Are there evidences in the verses of the Quran for the moral virtues and vices mentioned in the Gospel of John?', what is the scope of ethical topics in these two sources, and does this scope meet the needs of today's humanity? Answering these questions will both encompass the comprehensiveness and stability of ethical principles and contribute to strengthening the discourse of rapprochement between the Abrahamic religions.

Quranic verses also express these divine commands that are implemented by the Lord through divine messengers and consider acting upon these commands obligatory, because by acting upon these commands, a human can step on the path of happiness and perfection: «مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثىَ وَ هُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْیینَّهُ حَیوةً طَیبَةً وَ لَنَجْزِینَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُواْ یعْمَلُونَ» (Nahl: 97) Any man or woman who does a righteous deed while being a believer, We will certainly give them a pure and clean life, and We will reward them based on the best of what they used to do.
" (John, Chapter 11, Verses 42-43) In the Holy Quran, the hearing of prayer by God is also mentioned: «وَ یسْتَجِیبُ الَّذِینَ ءَامَنُواْ وَ عَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ وَ یزِیدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ وَ الْكَافِرُونَ لهَمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِیدٌ» (Ash-Shura: 26); "And He answers those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases them from His bounty, but the disbelievers will have a severe punishment.
