Abstract:
The general objective of the present research was to analyze the factor structure of the Coping Construct Questionnaire for Children (CCBQ) among middle school students in Tehran based on Classical Test Theory (CTT). This research was descriptive-exploratory, and its statistical population included all middle school students in Tehran during the 2015-2016 academic year, from which 537 individuals were selected as a sample using a multi-stage cluster sampling method. Data collection tools included the Coping Construct Questionnaire for Children (CCBQ) and the Cutter Inventory of Stress Strategies (CISS). For data analysis, an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) approach with Principal Axis Factoring (PAF) and oblimin oblique rotation was used with SPSS23 software. The results of the study showed that the three mentioned factors, after rotation, explain only 32.93% of the total variance of children's coping (the first factor explains 14.16%, the second 6.82%, and the third 11.95% of the variance); accordingly, if 3 factors are considered for this questionnaire to achieve a simple structure, a significant amount (67.07%) of information is lost.
