Abstract:
The present study was conducted in order to investigate the social factors related to improving the social status of high school teachers in Meshkinshahr from teachers’ own points of view. This is an applied research which in terms of time is cross-sectional and in terms of controlling the research conditions is a survey and descriptive- correlation. The statistical population of this study was all high school teachers in Meshkinshahr in 93-94 educational years (670), and using the stratified random sampling 245 teachers was selected as the sample size through Cochran formula. In order to collect data a questionnaire was used. The results of Pearson Correlation Test show that, there is a meaningful relationship between improving the social status of teachers and the following variables: salaries and benefits of teachers, teachers’ access to facilities, teachers’ membership in independent trade organizations, the citizens’ trust to teachers, the attention of Media to teachers and increasing the teachers’ skills. Also, the results of multi-variate regression show that, 79% of the improvement of teachers’ social status is due to relationship between a linear combination of independent variables and the remaining 21% which is called coefficient of no determination is due to other factors that were not included in this study.

Hassanpour (2011) in his master's thesis in Sociology at Roudehen University titled "Investigating factors affecting the promotion of teachers' social status from the perspective of teachers in the city of Boomen," which was conducted using the survey method, concluded that: both individual factors (age, gender, education, and place of residence), economic factors (increase in salary, benefits, and living and welfare facilities), and social factors (media support and protection of teachers, the level of citizens' social trust in teachers, etc.
Ayvazi (2012), in a master's thesis in Sociology at Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, titled "Determining the relationship between the economic status of secondary school teachers in Neyshabur and their social status," conducted using a survey method on a sample of 185 secondary school teachers in that city, found that: there is no significant relationship between the economic status of secondary school teachers in Neyshabur and their social status, and other social factors such as scientific level, membership in professional organizations, the feeling of being useful among citizens, etc.
