In this study, the type of leisure spending (media-based and non-media-based) was conducted based on two patterns, individual and collective, among 202 young people aged 16-24 in Tehran and their parents. The research method used in this study is a survey, and the main tool for data collection is a questionnaire. The results indicate that the amount of leisure time among youth is greater than among parents. Among media types, domestic television holds significant importance during the leisure time of both youth and their parents. Among non-media types, sports have the highest priority among youth and their parents, while gaming has the lowest priority among parents and recreation has the lowest priority among youth. The findings show that there is a difference between the duration of engaging in sports, travel, and interaction among youth and parents; also, there is a significant difference between the variables of the duration of media use among youth and parents.
