Abstract:
Humans are dependent on society to meet their needs; on the other hand, society also determines regulations for individuals and introduces them through culture. Each social class has its own specific culture, which stems from the historical-social agreements of the individuals in that class. One of the essential elements of culture is 'social values.' Social values are the desirable goals and objectives that members of society strive to achieve in order to satisfy their needs and desires. This research was conducted to study the common values among different classes of society in Shiraz city. In this regard, 383 researcher-made questionnaires were distributed among parents of households in Shiraz through cluster random sampling. Based on the theoretical framework of Zahed (1384) and a modern classification of societal values, significant relationships were found between various types of values and the upper, middle, and lower classes of society. Based on the results, there is a significant relationship between modern fundamental values, modern specialized values, general Islamic values, and general modern values with social classes. However, there is no significant relationship between Islamic fundamental values and Islamic specialized values with social classes.
