Abstract:
The aim of the study was to check the effectiveness of the executive function training on child ACID profile in students with learning disability. Method: An experimental method with pre-test and post-test has been used to clarify the effect. Based on Stratify sampling, 48 students has been selected on two groups of Experimental and control group. To measure ACID Profile score in the pretest Wechsler Intelligence Scale for children-Revised (WISC- R) has been used respectively. The executive function in a group training method was used for teaching the experimental group. After the training, posttest was run. Results: the results of the ANCOVA test demonstrated that the training of the executive functions increases the function three items of four subtests (Arithmetic, Coding and Information) as Wechsler ACID profile of children with learning disability. Conclusion: Although training of executive functions has no effect in Digit span subtest.
Machine summary:
The results of the analysis of covariance showed that executive function training leads to an increase in the performance of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children ACID profile in the subtests of Information, Arithmetic, and Coding, and has no effect on the Digit Span subtest.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of executive function training on improving the performance of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) ACID profile in four subtests: Arithmetic, Coding, Information, and Digit Span among fourth and fifth-grade elementary students with specific learning disabilities in Shiraz city.
Table 1- Pretest-Posttest design with a control group (Refer to page image) Sample: The research sample included 48 fourth and fifth-grade elementary school children with specific learning disabilities, with a mean age of 10 years and 6 months, who had a significant weakness in the ACID factor (Arithmetic, Coding, Information, and Digit Span) in the interpretation of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Wisc-R).
Table 3- Correlation matrix between the ACID profile subtests (Refer to the page image) In order to investigate the effectiveness of the executive functions training method on the performance of the Wechsler Children's Arithmetic subtest, the post-test scores of the control and experimental groups were compared using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).
In order to investigate the effectiveness of the executive functions training method on the performance of the Wechsler Children's Coding subtest, the post-test scores of the control and experimental groups were compared using analysis of covariance.
