(5) He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"(6) Vocabulary ﴿اللوّامة﴾ It is an intensive form (mubalaghah) of 'al-la'im' from 'al-lawm', which is the blaming of a person due to what is within them.
Then the Quran reveals the psychological reason behind this calculation: that he desires to indulge in his future days and the beginning of his life, and nothing should oppose his debauchery, nor should there be any account or punishment against him; rather, he wants to live like an animal, with no intellect to prevent him and no religion to deter him from his debauchery, so that there is no account here.
As for the latter, Allah Almighty answered it by saying: ﴿بل یرید الانسان لیفجر امامه﴾ (Al-Qiyamah 75:5), meaning that man, by nature, tends toward indulgence in desires and seeking excessive pleasures; thus, he hardly acknowledges the resurrection and the reckoning so that his pleasures are not diminished.
And He says in this context: ﴿فإذا برق البصر﴾ meaning every human will be bewildered and agitated by the horrors of the Resurrection they see, ﴿و خسف القمر﴾ and its light will be eclipsed and the order of the universe will be disrupted until the sun and the moon are gathered in one place and one time.
Then Allah Almighty said: 'Nay!' meaning the matter is not as you claimed regarding the denial of resurrection and reckoning, but rather, because of your love for the immediate worldly life, you leave the Hereafter and deny it.
It has been said: "It is from the words of the angels of death, saying: the angels of mercy or the angels of punishment will perform ruqyah with his soul (3)".
