Abstract:
In this research, a model is presented for institutionalizing the performance evaluation of faculty members with the aim of institutionalizing merit-based payment in universities. To this end, first, research conducted in the field of faculty performance evaluation inside and outside the country and the theoretical foundations of the subject are reviewed. The components of faculty performance evaluation are extracted and classified into 5 sections: theoretical foundations, model philosophy, model objectives, implementation steps, and flexibility, and based on them, the present model is presented. The study population consists of faculty members in educational sciences fields, and the study sample is 241 of them, obtained through stratified random sampling. The validity and reliability of the prepared questionnaire were examined, and its content and face validity were confirmed by subject experts. In the pilot study conducted on 30 faculty members, a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.864 was calculated and its reliability was confirmed. The research findings showed that the presented model has an 84.5% degree of fitness according to the faculty members.
Machine summary:
(Weistroffer, 2003) c) Theoretical Foundations of the Research In this section, the most important theories that can be used in designing a model for institutionalizing the performance evaluation of faculty members are briefly presented.
, 2002) In this theory, a model for evaluating the educational, research, and executive activities of university professors is presented, and an attempt has been made to perform this assessment based on the competency and qualification of the professors.
The results of the analysis of the responses showed that the focus of the current model is based on the theoretical foundations and theory of faculty performance evaluation, from which other components of the model are extracted.
Thus, the model's theories are placed in the second circle of the concentric circles: Figure Number 3-Initial stages of model design (Refer to the page image) Based on the method presented in the theories, functional components, teaching quality components, philosophical foundations, and the system of suggestions for better performance (in all 3 areas including educational, research, and executive performance) are extracted.
The information for this result is provided in the table below: Table No. 3- Degree of Model Suitability (Refer to the page image) Discussion, Interpretation, and Conclusion Initially, the system of appraisal and performance evaluation in higher education was investigated, and by studying the theoretical foundations of the subject and reviewing conducted research, the components effective on performance evaluation were extracted.
