Social indifference is one of the unwanted aspects of modern society. Sociologically, it is a main form of anomaly and a barrier to the improvement of human relationships that has influenced neighbors’ relationships in community level.
Reducing social indifference or, at least, preventing the extension of its scope, other than legal measures, requires moral solutions. Consequently, the present essay aims at introducing a functional solution based on Islamic approaches for reducing social indifference.
Here, documentary method and descriptive, analytical approach are adopted to present the Islamic view toward social indifference, and to highlight the necessity of moral coexistence among neighbors in everyday relationships, and finally to understand its capacities in preventing or reducing social indifference. The findings indicate that the presence of Islamic morality in neighbors’ relationships can prevent from, reduce, and eliminate variables that result in social indifference such as: radical individualist/egoistic behaviors, radical emphasis on reward-cost equation, and the absence of internalizing responsibility
