This type of research is important for the scientific community of each academic discipline. The aim of this article is to investigate the research methodology in the field of e-commerce by examining three reputable e-commerce journals from 2009 to 2013 using a systematic mapping study method. As a result of this research, 337 articles were extracted from a total of 422 articles. This study attempts to analyze the type of research, the purpose of the research, the philosophical paradigm, the scope of the research, the research method, and the unit of analysis of the articles, quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that quantitative research based on the positivist paradigm with practical goals in topics related to the development of new products and services and survey research at the community analysis level has the highest frequency. Finally, using Clementine software, the relationships between some results have also been analyzed.
