One of the important factors that can negatively affect the academic status of students is internet addiction. The aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between internet addiction and academic enthusiasm in students; the research method is descriptive-correlational. In this study, 200 students from Hakim Sabzevari University, Sabzevar city, in the academic year 1400-1401, were selected using cluster random sampling and responded to an internet addiction questionnaire and an academic enthusiasm scale. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis, which showed that there is a significant negative relationship between internet addiction and academic enthusiasm; in other words, as one increases, the other decreases. The results of the present research indicate the negative role of internet addiction in the academic enthusiasm of students; therefore, special attention should be paid to these issues in programs based on promoting the enthusiasm and academic performance of students.
