With a look at the contemporary history of education, it becomes clear that many ups and downs have been associated with education and teaching-learning processes. With the expansion of the boundaries of knowledge and technology, as well as the increase in educational demand, traditional methods are no longer responsive to the growing needs of humanity, and inevitably, virtual education and electronic learning, with all their advantages and disadvantages, can meet these needs. In this article, an attempt has been made to expand the perspective on virtual education and electronic learning, identify the advantages, limitations, opportunities, and challenges of this type of education, and present a vision for the future of virtual education. Undoubtedly, traditional education cannot fully respond to educational needs or expand education and learning processes in terms of spatial and temporal dimensions, a task that has been significantly covered by virtual and electronic education. In this article, considering the generalities and details of the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and challenges of electronic learning, valid theories in the field of the mentioned issues have been examined. Ultimately, we will reach the conclusion that virtual education, given all the expansive services it provides, can achieve greater success, and despite the shortcomings and deficiencies of 'face-to-face education,' they will still exist alongside each other.
