چکیده:
In role grammar, it is assumed that patterns of experience are represented in language through processes and via ideational metafunctions. Accordingly, by examining the types of processes present in verbs and determining their frequency of occurrence in a story, one can become aware of the experiences, thoughts, and the inner world of the author. The grammatical possibility and ability to represent experience in language is achieved through the transitivity system. Transitivity is the mechanism for expressing ideational and experiential metafunctions in language. In the present article, the authors have examined four Persian short stories by Jalal Al-Ahmad and Sadegh Hedayat. The stories have been analyzed based on the transitivity system within the framework of Halliday's role grammar. The frequency and percentage of occurrence of various processes, after examining all verbs present in the stories, have been considered as a stylistic index. In this article, an attempt is made to reveal the mindset of these two authors by examining the types of verbs used in the works of Hedayat and Al-Ahmad.

Since within the framework of role grammar, patterns of experience are made possible through verbs and processes via the experiential metafunction, one can become aware of the experiences, thoughts, and the inner world of the writer by examining the types of verbs and determining the processes and their frequency of occurrence in the story.
Two stories from each of the aforementioned authors were selected and analyzed based on the transitivity system within the framework of Halliday's systemic functional grammar.
In the present article, transitivity is used within the framework of systemic functional grammar and is applied in the way various processes and meanings are represented in a sentence (Simpson, 2004: 22).
First, all verbs present in the texts were extracted, and the processes used in each of the short stories "Se Tar" and "Vasvas" by Al-e Ahmad, and "Davoud Goozhepasht" and "Madeline" by Hedayat, were identified, and the types of processes were categorized based on Halliday's classification.
In the present research, four short stories by Jalal Al-Ahmad and Sadegh Hedayat have been examined based on the transitivity system presented in Halliday's functional grammar.
